Simone – Age 21 and bit
Before I started with BWFit, I had reduced my weight and my general health was good.
I met Pete at a business networking event and instantly felt at ease with him. Pete spoke honestly and with knowledge about working with clients that were new to exercise. I knew I could trust him and that he would support me physically and emotionally as I embarked on an unfamiliar journey.
I had not really taken exercise previously to working with Pete so have little comparison to draw on, however Pete has exceeded my expectations in his commitment to his business and to his clients.
Through Pete’s vast knowledge and experience he has given me all the tools I need to enable me to be the best version of myself possible.
At BWFit Pete has created a safe and supportive environment to train and discuss issues affecting all aspects of one’s life.
Trust is paramount between a trainer and client in my opinion and the connection Pete makes with all of his clients enables them to reach their goals.
Pete varies workouts to ensure you are continually pushing yourself to make good progress.
I never expected to enjoy training but Pete’s sense of humour and querky ways always lightens the mood and makes sessions enjoyable.
His taste in music is also varied which provides great entertainment too! Training with BWFit has changed my life. My attitude to exercise is so very different from when I started to now.
My confidence and abilities regarding my fitness and strength has grown tremendously and I am thrilled with the results.
My daughter age 10 said of Pete ‘he has transformed you’. She summed it up perfectly!
Believing in myself and my abilities.
Being able to take part in 5k park runs, race for life and the Nuts challenge has been a huge accomplishment.
Knowing that I belong on that starting line is down to Pete and all that he has enabled me to achieve. Reaching the finishing line is down to the connection I have made with him and the fact that I showed up consistently and worked my arse off.
BWFit is …….doing life better!
I was introduced to Pete as a 50th birthday present; no “right, what you need is X, let’s kick on” from Pete, instead a discussion of my lowly objectives
1) the intent of being able to ‘pop-up’ on a surfboard (and thus keep up with my teenagers),
2) Become a bit more flexible and with luck shed a few pounds.
When I look back from where I am now to those early days huffing and puffing and hardly bending in our hallway, the HIIT and the boxing, the progression to some weights, I have to smile (even during the weekly garage weights sessions!).
That smile comes not just from the changes wrought in me physically and mentally and the satisfaction you get from said ‘progress’ but from the humour, fun, variation, insight, flexibility, motivation (for all the sessions on my own), endorphin creating all round environment that Pete effectively helps you to create for yourself.
I am probably fitter, sharper, stronger, lighter, leaner, more focused, calmer, not to mention a faster runner, swimmer, cyclist, sailor, thinker, than literally ever.
The teenagers are working out, mud-running, the better half is dancing and yoga-ing, work colleagues are buying bikes, wetsuits, running shoes, taking classes – call it trickle down from BeWrightFit!
Without Pete’s workouts, emails, blog, advice, massage, persistence and all- round value, I doubt I would be where I (or all of them) am today – about to do a half IronMan (again).
So, hats off to Pete, long may we continue to work together, thank you.”- James
Training with Pete has worked wonders for me. In 2 years, he has been the godsend I have needed to reach my fitness goals which have revolved around me getting a more lean shape and also getting stronger.
He also enlightened me in the way of clean eating and how to keep consistent in doing so to reach my goals which I never thought I would be able to achieve.
Pete’s training sessions are productive in both a physical and psychological way as he is always willing to listen to you if you have had a bad week for whatever reason. I always come out of his sessions absolutely knackered but at the same time very satisfied and ready to take on the week.
It is always a friendly, relaxed environment in Pete’s sessions and we always have a good laugh one way or another (especially if he gets me to do any yoga positions!)
Pete has also been very accommodating to my busy and awkward work life. I have a job that involves being on-call and has awkward shift patterns and Pete, (even at short notice sometimes, has been fantastic at moving planned sessions around which i cannot thank him enough for.
Training as affected me a lot more than I originally planned, in a good way. Pete has inspired me and made me realise that I can go above and beyond not just in my training but in other things involved in my life. Not only do I look a lot better and lift a lot heavier than i ever dreamed of, I also feel so much more headstrong and focused on my outlook in life.
There are so many really, but the one that stands out for me was hitting a 172.5 deadlift. Bearing in mind I could barely do a press up 2 1/2 years ago, this was a bit of a milestone for me.- Craig
If you are reading this then chances are you are looking to improve your fitness and diet but need someone to guide you through with expert advice to find what works for you. In this instance I can recommend using the services Pete has to offer.
I have been training with Pete for a number of years. Having done the classes he offers such as yoga, boxing, and shared personal training sessions on a regular basis, he has also painstakingly managed to help me lose weight and improve my body shape.
It’s been a huge journey of trying to find what would work for me but Pete never gave up on me and would and still does spend the time to go through everything so that you are happy and understand what you need to do to achieve your goals.
Pete is totally committed to giving his clients the best service he can and has gone out of his way to make sure that is the case. But, there is always a but! Be prepared to work extremely hard and forget about comfort zones. He will push you (that’s what we all need at times) to a point that you feel you’ve worked hard but feel good about yourself.
Pete’s strength as a personal trainer lies in his ability to relate his enthusiasm and compassion for what he does to each individual. If you are serious about making changes to your fitness and lifestyle Pete will be there to help you step by step.
BeWrightFit trains a friendly group of people in a happy relaxed atmosphere who support each other no matter what your age or ability which is a contrast to big gyms which can feel very intimidating if you are not confident and feel out of place.
Pete has a lot of experience and knowledge in his field and is a brilliant coach. So if a few tattoos, a blue Mohican and a superhero t-shirt are not what you expect when you meet him then you will be even more surprised by the results that you will achieve by training with this man can make to you.- Sue
What was my health & fitness like before BWFit, well, I was happy when I didn’t have a cold. Fitness was something I didn’t think I could make time for.
I chose BWFit because of his kind generosity of spirit. That genuine desire to help others. It’s something that Pete puts a lot of effort into. Even sometimes at his own cost.
He gives me constant support. Constant monitoring and changing of routines. Constant challenges that bring real improvements in strength, flexibility, stability and shape. Just brilliant.
I like the fact that whatever I manage, however crummy I think my performance might have been Pete picks out the positives for me. He is there when I do a good workout and cheers me on. I notice myself the results and the improvements in strength and it’s great to have the support.
If i am full of self-pity and feeling under the weather Pete can usually turn it around and make me see that training will help. It’s always a positive thing and not a chore.
The change to my life has been all Positives! I’m not yet where I want to be, but this training program makes me feel strong and right now that is a huge improvement.
I never thought I could do a push up, I can now 😊
3 Words that describe BWFit -Mind, Body, Soul Training- Gemma
When I joined BWFit I weighed 15st 2lbs, my energy levels were low, none of my clothes fitted me and I was just generally pretty grumpy with the way I looked. It was very much self inflicted in that I was spending quite a lot of time out with work i.e. customer and partner lunches and dinners and it got to the point whereby I was really not taking care of my diet or myself at all. I had stopped going to the gym with the excuse that I didn’t have the time but to be honest it was just a downward spiral of self pity.
BWFit was a recommendation from a friend of mine. I met with Pete over a coffee and talked about where I was in my life regarding my health and my determination to get back into my clothes and everything he said to me made complete sense and put me on the path to the new me.
I was intrigued by weight training as I had never tried it before and most importantly I needed guidance on how to manage my food better but in a way that I could maintain it rather than the rubbish fad diets I had tried over the years. The conversation we had around food resonated with me and made me feel as though this was a challenge that I could take on.
Training with Pete is so far removed from anything that I have ever done in my life. Before my weight gain I always loved being active and going to the gym but it had always been very much cardio based and never involved weights. I always had to rely on self discipline to get myself over to the gym and it had been too easy for me to just not go. Training with BWFit is a commitment and I have to turn up! 🙂
The power and weight training that Pete has introduced me to has literally changed me on so many levels. I am 5ft 10 with a broad frame and this training has taken my strength to new levels and given me definition that I never knew was possible even in my slimmer days. I can honestly say that I am now stronger and fitter than I have ever been and I love it. Oh and I have lost over 3 stone under Pete’s guidance….a huge result!! My clothes all fit me again and I have my whole wardrobe back.
I have had the best time training with Pete. He has been so incredibly encouraging and also firm but fair where he has needed to be. Pete’s knowledge and experience is incredible and I have always felt completely safe and encouraged by him. He has been really flexible with regards to fitting my sessions in and around both of our busy schedules and this has been so invaluable as it has kept my motivation up. After 2 years of training with Pete I have never found myself in a position whereby I dread going into training. My weights have increased over the time in accordance with my fitness and there have been days where I think this is just too hard but with Pete’s encouragement and “you can do this” motivation I generally end up smashing it and with that comes a real sense of achievement 🙂
Where do I start with how this has changed my life! My confidence is back and after having tried every fad diet you can think of over the years I now find myself in a position where I know how to manage my food intake sensibly and how to keep myself healthy. When I put on those extra pounds from holiday or a bit of a binge I know how to get back on track again. Pete has shown me a different way of eating and how I need to be looking at food to maintain my health and fitness. This has all been very new to me and by golly it definitely works!!!
With my new found strength and fitness I have recently started Taekwon-do. Martial arts is something I have always wanted to do and I am in a position now where I feel strong and agile enough to take this on. Definitely an element of mid life crisis involved but it would have been purely a passing thought with my 3 stone heavier me of 2 years ago. I love it and Pete’s work with me has definitely given me the strength to cope with this super pass time.
Thanks to Pete I am fitter and stronger now than I have ever been and at the age of 46 last year I did the Nuts obstacle challenge for the first time ever and came 133 out of 603 runners. Not too shabby for a first timer and this is all down to the new me that Pete has whipped into shape. Never in a million years would I ever have thought that I would have the energy or drive to do an obstacle race but loved it so much I’m going back again this year to beat my previous time.
3 Words to describe BWFit – Lifestyle, Encouraging & Fantastic- Caron
I have been training about once a week for almost a year with Pete. I started as I had been suffering chronic back pain caused by a decaying L5 disc. Pete put a programme together to rebuild my core and within 2 months the pain was gone and the mobility had returned to my golf swing.
I was able to return to running and Pete modified my programme in January 17 to prepare and strengthen me for the London Marathon
My wife had worked with Pete for some months and persuaded me to meet with him and give it a try . A year later I am still challenging myself every Monday morning
I have never used a personal trainer before.
Pete is a task master but understands your needs and bespoke a the programme to your needs.
He changes it up regularly so you can never get complacent.
It’s tough . 30 minutes into many hour sessions I am asking myself ‘ why are you doing this to yourself?’
Within 20 minutes of finishing I feel so good.
Before I started training with Pete, I was too skinny for my liking and couldn’t lift anything worth mentioning, my diet could have been better too. A family member recommended Pete but I had only ever trained on my own or with a gym buddy.
Sessions with Pete are challenging but in a way that I know I’m getting the gains, it’s also done in a friendly and down to earth atmosphere, where you can have a laugh and chat about other things too.
Training this way has made me more driven and focused on what I’m eating and how I am training at the gym. I feel much better every day because I know what I am doing much more now, whereas before I didn’t know about how much or how little I should be eating and training etc.
I can see the improvements – I never thought I would be able to dead lift past 110Kg any time soon. I thought those kind of numbers were for the big dudes you see on TV. So was really pleased to hit 167.5Kg recently. Also proud of being able to do a few decent sets of pull ups too, sounds silly, but I used to really struggle with those before.- Craig
Other than walking in the summer months, my health and fitness was pretty rubbish. I’d been a member of a gym but their PTs do an assessment, give you a programme and then disappear for 8 weeks or for ever, and its gym specific.
I signed up to try BWF for 10 weeks and what I liked from the outset was that the focus on what I said I wanted not what someone else thought I should have (that came later!).
In a weird way, training with Pete is fun. Expect to be pushed but not to a degree that is impossible, encouraged, especially when it’s not going so well, you’ll have to try things that you hate the sound of and hate the reality of even more, but you’ll also have to admit that they work. You’ll realise that you can do loads of stuff that you never thought you could do (and that feels great), that things don’t need to be sophisticated to work, you won’t get any bullshit (well, not much) and if you do what Pete tells you to do it will work.
Pete is really good at helping you to have a laugh about being crap at something but not letting you walk away from it. If you had told me three years ago that I would plan my day so that I could fit a workout into it I’d have laughed at you. I do get grumpy if I don’t workout for more than two days, I don’t make excuses not to exercise, I’m more careful (no more than that) about what I eat and drink and the whole gig is an important part of the day to day.- Jackie
I had just had a back operation and been laid up for several months. I couldn’t even do 1 sit-up when I first met Pete
I read his profile and after meeting him there was no turning back. Pete tailors my sessions to what my body/muscles/back can physically do, so it is designed to get the maximum out whilst taking into account my physical limitations.
It’s hard but fun and I always feel exhilarated after a training session with Pete! He has kept me going through a number of back operations over the last 4 and half years and even when I feel like I can do nothing, Pete will find a something I can accomplish. I am fitter with a strong core and always look forward to the next session!
I can do sit ups now which I never thought I would ever be able to accomplish!- Sara Burns
After extremely little exercise for most of my life, and needing to lose a daunting amount of weight, I did a 2-month boot camp at my Gym a year ago. But this wasn’t enough to change habits and there wasn’t any follow up support, so the weight and bad habits returned, with all the fears, lack of confidence and self-doubt.
Pete didn’t offer a quick fix, because that doesn’t work. He doesn’t just offer the actual personal training, but also guidance on nutrition. He also is great at being a Life Coach, and I leave the ‘dungeon’ completely relaxed and physically shattered each Thursday morning.
You have to commit to the hard work as you’ll only get out what you put in. Also Pete doesn’t hide anything, he is very matter of fact, and will be very honest with you. I’ve had more sense out of Pete than my Doctor. He will push you to your extreme, but I totally trust him not to push my body too hard. I had never done weight training before meeting Pete, but it’s completely addictive.
I’ve still a long way to go, but 3+ stones in 6 months is a good and steady pace. And I can now easily lift 20kg of cat litter out the car. I can keep up walking with my Partner for the first time in ages, but I still don’t walk enough.
Bad habits still take longer than 6 months to change, but I know I’ll achieve it with Pete’s help and guidance – he called it accountability in one of his blogs – and that’s exactly it. I don’t want to let me down any more, and I really feel that although it will take me a long-time to hit my goal, it is achievable.
Goals for this year – going swimming, wearing a dress/skirt for the first time in over 20 years, and not having to buy clothes over the internet- Sarah Price
Before I started with BWFit my health was at an all-time low and I thought that exercise was walking the dog up the road. In the past I had joined gyms which I didn’t really enjoy as I didn’t really know what I was doing and felt out of place, then usually lost interest.
Training with BWFit, whether it be on a 1-2-1 training session or group class is always enjoyable. Everyone that attends works hard because they want to push themselves to get fitter and stronger. Pete always ensures that we work safely within our capabilities and takes care to monitor each person’s progress so that we always leave a class feeling achievement and not defeated.
Training with BWFit has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for my health. I can honestly say that I have never been fitter and felt healthier. Before BWFit I was a normal mum and housewife dragging myself through the mundane chores of life, bored to tears, not daring to try anything outside the comfort zone for fear of what people might think about me an overweight, middle age woman with not much confidence. Well, now I am really proud of all the things I’ve done with BWFit. I would never have done weight lifting/training if it wasn’t for BWFit which I love doing. So if I have to pick one thing that I have achieved with BWFit it has to be self-confidence. Without that I could not have done any of the above. For that I will always be grateful!- Sue
Training with Pete at BWFit is totally different, my previous “training” consisted of going out on the MTB, sailing (not training just doing) and trying to surf! I would say I was slightly flabby, in denial about fitness/strength, not very flexible and with limited stamina.
It’s fun (to a point!), informative (about body, muscles, the process of training and much more) and rewarding (as in you can appreciate the results) plus what you do with Pete and what he gives you to do for your goals creates a virtuous feedback loop that gets you up – addictive, in a good way! I’m fitter, stronger, slimmer, healthier, sharper and soberer!
With Pete’s training and encouragement, I felt able to register for Weymouth IronMan 70.3 in September 2016 and not make a complete idiot of myself
3 words to describe BWFit – Responsive, rigorous, rewarding- James
I found Pete by a search on the internet and he was the first PT I had come across that would visit me at home; my previous training all centred on the Gym. My health and fitness before I worked with Pete was pretty poor, I was overweight and the Fat Bastard on parade!
Training with BWFit is excellent, Pete gives professional guidance on both food diet and exercise. I have had a total lifestyle change – my type 2 diabetes has been conquered in total, you can read more about me on the real humans of BWFit here
Pete has helped me to reduced weight by 4 stones.
