This may turn into a bit of a rant, at the moment of starting this I’m not entirely sure where it is going to go.
There are two main things I constantly here from people when it comes to using excuses for their own health and well being. They are barriers that people put up as a reason for them not doing anything.
So let’s break it down a one excuse at a time.
I don’t have enough time
I Forget that other people live in a different time zone to me and only live in a 8 or 10 hour day when I firmly believed there are 24hrs in the day. If I am wrong then I will stick my hand up and sue the education system for convincing me that there is 24hrs in the day.
Now anyone of you out there in the world can find 30 minutes or an hour a day to exercise, it doesn’t mean you have to spend 2 hrs going to the gym, getting changed working out and getting changed again before coming home, but we can all find time to do it, even if it is just going for a walk. Time is not an excuse, it is how you manage that time. If you find your day is busy and running from here and there, then maybe go to bed a bit earlier so you can get up earlier to do it.
Another thing you can do is train instead of sitting on the sofa and watching the tele, I love it when people tell me they don’t have to time to train, but you have time to sit down and watch a box set on Netflix. Think about it, training doesn’t have to be all in or all out, it is about just moving a bit and getting those endorphins kicking in to make you feel good.
I can put money on it if you don’t manage your time better now you will certainly run out of time later in life, when you want to be doing something, when you want to be running around with the grandkids, you may find you can’t or indeed you’re not around too.
So make the time now and get yourself in a better place so you are making a good shot at living as long and healthy as you can, if you don’t owe it to yourself you owe it to your family.
You can even incorporate exercise into your daily routine, walk instead of driving everywhere, get of the bus one stop earlier, use the stairs instead of a lift, all of these little things can and will make a difference.
So don’t give me that excuse that you don’t have time to do it, you do, you just have to make it. No one is going to magic up some more time for it to happen.
I can’t afford it
Now this I can understand to a point, money is tight and you need to put food on the table and a roof over your head before you can spend money on a gym membership or a trainer to keep it going. However there are plenty of options you can do that cost fuck all. Walking as far as I remember is an exercise where it costs nowt, please at some point tell me if I’m wrong.
Now you have plenty of local councils who have put those exercise machines in the local park but shocking you need to go out to use them, but that is free as well.
You want a training plan google it, there are plenty of free ones out there. I know I am a Personal Trainer but the main thing you are buying with me, isn’t the training program, it’s me and the accountability to do it. Yes you may not have the money to buy a training session but you can train, you don’t have to join a gym, YouTube has shit loads of workouts on that you can follow at home.
You don’t need expensive equipment to train and get the body you’ve wanted, if you have your own body and a small amount of space then you have a gym.
If you want to train with a trainer or buy into an online group or a program then don’t tell me you can’t afford it when you spend most days buying a coffee from the coffee shop, cut back on some of your luxuries and it will free up some cash to enable you to buy into a program, now I know everyone has a level they can afford, which is why I have different levels ranging from £30 a month up to £500 a month depending on how much time you want me to kick you up the bum to get it done.
Go at a level you can afford, cut down on those coffees, I’m sure you don’t need all of those, if you can’t take one from home then get up 10 minutes earlier to have it before you leave.
You got to ask yourself are you ready to make that change, if you want it bad enough then you will make that change, if you don’t you will always find an excuse not to and then continue to moan about it.
I heard someone say that you won’t make that change unless the pain of staying where you are is more than the pain to make that change .
So if you are one of these people that makes these excuses have a look at yourself. Just because you don’t have the money to do what you wanted to, train with a trainer or buy this and that, look at what you can do, make the time to do it, stick with and be consistent and you will get there.
But don’t tell me just because you don’t have the time or don’t have the money you can’t train and make your life better.
